Lighthouse Keepers and

Resource Educators Wanted

Have you ever wanted to be a lighthouse keeper?  You're in luck! Volunteer keeper vacancies are now being filled at Newport's historic Yaquina Bay and Yaquina Head Lighthouses for year round opportunities.

Interpretation and Education Internships applications are now also open until filled for Resource Educators at Yaquina Head. These positions are for next year from April 24, 2007 to October 2, 2007.

What does a keeper do?

  • Brings both lighthouses to life by sharing their history
  • Assists with the preservation of these historic landmarks

If you live out of the Newport area, NO PROBLEM, we can provide RV and trailer spaces!
If you are interested in becoming a part of history, call the lighthouses below.

What does a Resource Educator do?

Resource Educators at Yaquina Head may find themselves exploring tidepools with elementary school students, describing the migration of gray whales as they swim past, answering questions about the area at the site’s interpretive center, greeting visitors at the fee collection booth, or guiding visitors into the past within Oregon’s tallest lighthouse. If you are interested in becoming a Resource Educator, download, print, fill out and mail back one of the forms below and/or call the Yaquina Head Lighthouse number.
